CHINESE ROSE QUARTZ AMETHYST Double Fish Gold Necklace Pendant Carved Beads

CHINESE ROSE QUARTZ & AMETHYST'DOUBLE FISH' NECKLACE. An art deco period Chinese rose quartz & amethyst carved bead with gold bead detailing featuring a large carved rose quartz'double fish' pendant. Double fish (shung yú) which is a rebus for the wishing of abundance or plenty (yu yù). Fish are also representing of abundance with regards to procreation. This motif is also a symbol of connubial bliss (shung yú jí qìng).

This necklace was most likely a marriage gift in which to wish abundance on the newly married couple. The carved stringed beads appear to be a light purple amethyst with two carved melon-shaped beads.

Dimensions : 14.75" L (front to back without pendant) / pendant -1.75" L x 1.25 W Condition : Good overall condition for age. A few small rough areas on the beads but not noticeable unless closely inspected.
