The Buddha is securely prong-set in a gold frame with a lovely filigree design on the back. The bottom of the Buddha is also framed in gold for added protection against loss and damage.The hat worn by this Buddha is called a "kasa, " made of rice straw. This type of hat was worn by mendicant Buddhist monks to cover part of their faces and protect them from the distractions of the world.
