CHINESE ROSE QUARTZ & PENDANT NECKLACE. An art deco period Chinese carved rose quartz crystal beaded necklace and pendant. The necklace is made up of individually carved'knuckle-bone' beads set with small gold bead detailing and clasp (marked 14K).

The pendant is carved rose quartz featuring a ribbon-tailed bird shòu. Sitting upon a peach (táo) with blooming camellias (chahua).

Ribbon-tailed birds and blooming camellias are a rebus for May you enjoy eternal youth and longevity (chunguang changshou). These three items carved together are both symbols of longevity (shòu) as they are both homophones which all represent granting many years of life upon those who received this, which most likely, was a birthday gift.
